Our Approach

The Beginning

The professional staff at Valeo Community Residence Program has one simple goal. Each staff member is committed to teaching appropriate life and problem-solving skills and effectively facilitating the individual's transition into society.

The staff at Valeo CRP approach every resident with the fundamental belief that the individual can improve. From the first client introduction, the staff focuses on completing a comprehensive assessment of the individual. All available treatment resources are considered in the evaluation process. Since Valeo CRP embraces a vision of recovery for all clients, the focus shifts from assessment to developing a treatment plan of action to include appropriate professional resources, uncovering individual strengths and goal setting. Clients receive daily coaching and are asked to participate in recovery-focused events, both individual and group.

The Approach

The Valeo Community Residence Program is skilled in treating adults with mental illness and/or dual diagnosis.

A Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic model is used as the cornerstone of service delivery at Valeo CRP. The CBT program, developed in conjunction with the Beck Institute, was instituted in 2005. Valeo CRP is the only residential setting in the U.S. utilizing the CBT model as a therapeutic underpinning to all consumer interaction and services.

The CBT model incorporates teaching methods that challenge residents or reassess their functional abilities and overcome, or at least question, self-imposed barriers to realizing their potential for independence. Many CBT participants are aware of personal progress, experiencing feelings of control over their lives, realizing they do have choices and can manage behaviors more effectively than previously thought possible.

Individualized Recovery

Recovery is a deeply personal, unique process of changing one's attitudes, expectations, values, feelings and improving goals and skills. Individualized treatment plans are extensive and address all life domains. Each client is supported yet challenged to set quality of life goals to achieve maximum independent functioning. The recovery process stresses improved decision-making and self-empowerment with a comprehensive plan to achieve results.

Valeo Community Residence Program assists residents with diverse clinical diagnosis including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, depression, personality disorder, dual diagnosis and eating disorders. Treatment services are specific to individual goals and levels of functioning. Community involvement is a program goal for all residents. All life domains are assessed and addressed for rehabilitative needs, including vocational, educational, life and interpersonal skills, healthy living, leisure and recovery.

For those residents with more fully developed independent living skills the Valeo CRP Annexing Program is an option. Annexers live independently in the community and do not reside in the home. Annex residents utilize a CRP house and staff for extra support and problem-solving consultations. Depending upon individual treatment plans, annex residents may participate in groups and other CRP communal activities.

Family members are an integral part of the treatment team providing input and receiving updates regarding progress and goals. Family members may call their loved one or the treatment team leader at any time. Families and guests are always welcome to visit their loved one at any time. Residents may also visit their home communities at any time. Staff support is available for assistance with trips back to home communities.

Valeo CRP hosts an annual Family Day. Program residents, family members and their entire treatment team are encouraged to attend. This event includes an informal workshop, professional speakers, program updates and opportunities to meet with the treatment team.
