Our Approach

Our professional staff at Valeo Community Residence Program has one simple goal. Each staff member is committed to teaching appropriate life and problem-solving skills and effectively facilitating the individual's transition into society.

We are skilled in treating adults with mental illness and/or dual diagnosis. A Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic model is used as the cornerstone of service delivery at Valeo CRP. Our Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) program was developed in conjunction with The Beck Institute, and implemented in 2005.

The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy model incorporates teaching methods that challenge residents to reassess their functional abilities. Helping to overcome, or at least question, self-imposed barriers to realizing their potential for independence. Many CBT participants are aware of personal progress, experiencing feelings of control over their lives. The outcome is the ability to manage behaviors more effectively than previously thought possible.

The methods of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy have been scientifically tested in over 300 clinical trials and found to be effective treatment for many different disorders. Through the application of CBT, we have found impressive increases in the abilities of participants in making independent decisions. This has in turn increased confidence and self esteem, while decreasing symptoms.

Recovery is a deeply personal process of changing one's attitudes, expectations, values, feelings, and improving one's skills. Individualized treatment plans are comprehensive. We assist residents with diverse clinical diagnosis including bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety disorder, depression, personality disorder, and dual diagnosis of substance abuse. Treatment services are specific to individual goals and level of functioning. Community involvement is a program goal for all residents. All life domains are assessed for rehabilitative needs including vocational, educational, life and interpersonal skills, healthy living, leisure, and recovery.

Family members are an integral part of the treatment team providing input and receiving updates regarding progress and achievements. Family members are welcome to call or visit any day of the week between the hours of 8:00am-10pm. Residents may also visit their home communities at any time. Staff support is available for assistance with trips home. Valeo Community Residence Program hosts an annual Family Day which includes an informal workshop, guest speakers, program updates, and opportunity to meet with the treatment team.
